The Professional Ladder for Freelance Writers

in Careers at Chillibreeze

The professional ladder above is one of the career paths writers can take at Chillibreeze. You start by becoming a registered writer and move up the value chain to eventually become a star writer.

If you write so you can spread awareness or just because it is your passion, you might also be interested in our involvement ladder.

Explaining these terms:

Registered writer: A writer who has registered with Chillibreeze as a writer by filling the writers form. Registering with Chillibreeze is the first step towards writing for us but writers might not find opportunities solely by registering. You might be sent offers once in a while especially when a project matches your expertise. But there are no guarantees. You will also receive news and updates from Chillibreeze.

Preferred writer: A writer who has written an approved sample article for Chillibreeze. The sample must be accepted by our editor and published on Chillibreeze by our website manager. Once you become a preferred writer, you start getting our standard offers. Preferred writers will get most offers but exclusive offers will be sent only to specific writers. Preferred writers will also get the opportunity to apply to projects posted on our Do-it-yourself projects board.

Tested writer: You can become a tested writer if you have been tried and tested on a project. Here are some projects we have completed in the past. We know they are good, so they are sent offers more frequently. Note: Only writers who receive positive feedback from clients can move into the next level of tested writers. If you take on a project and drop out mid-way or do not perform well on your project, you will not be added to our list of tested writers. The biggest advantage of being a tested writer is you might get direct and exclusive offers. You might also receive offers before preferred writers do. So you get the first pick. If you have been tested on several projects, you might also be given opportunities to work directly with customers.

Certified writer: OK this is tricky. Heard of skipping grades? This is one of those chances you get to do that. You don’t need to be a preferred writer or a tested writer to become a certified writer (though you are welcome to go through the process. Plus preferred writers get a 30 percent discount on our assessments). You can become a certified writer by receiving a grade of 6 or above (on 10) on one of our writing, editing or proofreading assessment tests. What happens once you get a merit certificate? You can of course have your transcripts sent to other clients/employers. Plus, you are added to a group of premium writers on Chillibreeze (You can choose to get your name and profile listed on our website). You are also offered the opportunity to work directly with customers and take a bigger cut of the pay offered for the project.

Star writer: Someone who is both a tested writer as well as a certified writer. This is the top of the ladder at Chillibreeze. Once you reach this level, you will be offered opportunities to manage entire teams on high end projects. Think of it as a mini-hub of Chillibreeze and you will be running the hub. You will get to interact with customers, send quotes, create budgets and take projects to execution. Plus of course, your hourly/per-project pay will be higher too.
