The Situation: Our superwoman is sent to review a newly opened amusement park in the city. She has to save a couple of pre-schoolers who get stranded at the amusement park. The kids are having a gala time enjoying dangerous rides sans adult supervision. Our superwoman has to save the stranded kids and ensure their safety. Phew!!!! Being a superwoman is sure not an easy job now! Isn’t it??
Word limit: 200 words.
The Prize: Your Freelance Writing Career - A Complete Guide for Indian Writers and a chance to get published on the Chillibreeze website.
Last date to send in entries: May 31st.
Post your entries as a response to this thread… Are we set to read some whacky superwoman stories?

There I stood, face to face with my biggest fear; children. ‘Hold on’ I stuttered, as I grabbed hold of the end of the rollercoaster they were stuck in, and pushed it to ground level before it could plummet. The three preschoolers were sitting in the front, which made it possible for me to manipulate the back. The second I brought them to safety, I ran at lightening fast speed, getting as far away from them as possible. I had to stop myself when I realized I had entered a different continent, at which point I ran back to the amusement park, to assume my role as a spectator of the event.
People cheered, chanted the name of my alter ego ‘Miss Magnificent’. They looked around to see where she’d disappeared. At this point, they might have glanced at me adjusting my spectacles and tidying my hair. But they wouldn’t suspect me to be her. To the public, I was a regular newswoman, noting down an act of heroic proportions. Maybe if they had x-ray vision like me, they’d see the shiny blue and green bodysuit under my formal clothes.

05-24-2011, 11:34 PMHi Swati, Thank you for such a positive response to my story. I consider myself an amateur, and any words of encouragement I get, I deeply appreciate. I'm new to this website, and it seems like a great place to be. Unfortunately, I missed the caption contest you mention. I just chanced upon this one, and thought I would give it a shot. I look forward to others as well.

05-25-2011, 11:35 AMHi Priya,
That was a good piece of writing. Poor "Miss Magnificent". Caught with little terrors. I could almost visualise her face when you mentioned the "adjusting my spectacles and tidying my part". Even superwomen are not free of phobias I guess!? Right?
Please keep visiting the forum Priya. There are a lot of contests lined up for the coming weeks.

05-25-2011, 01:49 PMAll in a day's work!
Ragini waited for the young mother to finish chores. She hated waiting, which was part of her job as a reporter. Her latest piece was on working mothers. She loved meeting them, as they were like her; Superwomen! She felt a squeal and a tug on her trouser. Palpitations increasing, she knew her fears were confirmed; A baby! Flashes of nephews who had wet her Gucci outfits, and tied her shoelaces together flooded her mind. She moved away just in time to notice a beep on her watch. Feeling relieved to escape; she sped into a tornado like swirl.
She soared into the sky, her red cape dominating the skies, to the part of the day she loved. Setting her bearings for the destination, she looked at her mission: Rescue 25 stranded pre-schoolers from an amusement park. Momentarily losing her balance, she composed herself. In a clean swoop she lifted the rollercoaster, and set it on ground safely, while sending multiple messages to the mothers to pick the children immediately. As she slipped out the gate, back in her business suit, a toddler ran and hugged her. Ragini smiled, and typed an update to her base station: “Mission Accomplished!”Last edited by Aditi Patil; 05-25-2011 at 01:55 PM.

‘Stranded preschoolers in amusement park take Pink Superwoman on a merry ride’
Yesterday two kids were stranded on a merry go round. Suddenly a Pink Superwoman flew in to save them.
‘Come to me kids’, she said. ‘No, they said, first you join us.’ Trying to jump on a moving horse, the superwoman almost fell off.
‘Only Ben 10 can save us’, said the boy. ‘Where is your power ranger watch? Show us your magic powers’ said the girl. The merry go round was moving at full speed. The kids seemed to be in mood to be saved. Finally she showed them her pink feather. Here, if you touch this, you get a magic pink sword and wings and you can fly. The kids started clapping and jumping.
‘That’s cool’, they said. Armed with the wings, they flew down to their anxious parents’ waiting arms.
‘Dina, see this news’, called my colleague at the newsdesk. ‘Coming’, I say. I lock the pink feather back in my secret box. Phew, being in the news is so much more difficult than reporting it. And I think I’ll include a clause in my superwoman contract. Can save anybody except kids. They terrify me.
