On February 27th 2010 Chillibreeze hosted a Freelance Writer Meet in Bangalore at the Cha Bar in the Leela Galleria. A total of 38 writers and editors attended the interactive session, which was coordinated by Nina Arumugam, coordinator for the Bangalore chapter. The workshop combined, discussions on how to pitch to a paper or a magazine, how does one get that initial break into freelance writing, the role of editors in altering the writers script, what does one do if the changes are not acceptable to the writer, how much should one should expect to be paid for an article and whether it was financially sustainable to be a freelance writer and more.
Many of the writers were interested in taking up projects with Chillibreeze and were keen to know how they could apply for projects directly and take up editing and writing assignments. The benefits of the Chillibreeze writing and editing assessments and the writing evaluation services for writers was also discussed. The meeting wound up with the participants expressing their interest in Chillibreeze organizing writing workshops and regular Meets in Bangalore and agreed to post their suggestions and feedback and stay connected through the Chillibreeze online forums.
