The Freelance Writers meet organized by Chillibreeze in Mumbai at the Bespoke Cafe in Palladium, Phoenix Mills on June 26, 2010 was attended by an interesting mix of writers. The meet had writers from various walks of life with profiles ranging from a budding novelist to an established journalist with Economic Times.  The Meet was coordinated by Hetal Kudecha, coordinator for the Mumbai Chapter.

A few writers had come with a view to socializing and networking, while some where looking to reconnect with the writers they had met at an earlier event / writers meet.

The coordinator introduced Chillibreeze and the services it offered and a peek into the upcoming events for writers and editors.  The writers expressed interest in the new editing course that would be launched by Chillibreeze in the month of July and this was followed by a good discussion on whether it was writing, or editing, that was most sought out by freelance professionals interested in providing content services.

The participants expressed interest in attending day long workshops where they could meet and interact with experienced writers as well as learn about new trends and opportunities in the field of writing. It was felt that an offline workshop was better than an online workshop as the former scored on account of meeting like-minded people. Some writers also expressed interest in the online technical workshops conducted by Chillibreeze.

The writers also discussed the need or a dedicated page for ‘Mumbai Writers Meet’ on Facebook where all the writers who have attended the Writers Meet could interact with one another and keep in touch. The writers also felt that Chillibreeze should start  providing literary agency services, since most established publishing houses take a lot of time before they can back to a writer with an approved manuscript.

Writers requested that the contact number of the coordinator could be shared with them so that they would have no trouble in locating the venue for the Writer Meet. One of the journalist writers offered to arrange the meets at the Press Club downtown in Mumbai.

The conversation flowed freely over coffee and tea and the meet ended on serious conversations about social issues and recital of a poem by Rabindranath Tagore by one of the writers.
