Media education not prepared for the next generation
This is just an overview of how media education in India has not changed over 2 decades where as every thing around media has changed. There are very few institutions in this country that are focusing on the change rather than living off a brand that got created 20 years ago.
In my quest for quality media education I searched over 50 institutions in India but realized that the quality of education has taken a back seat given the comfort zone achieved over years.
Firstly, it was difficult to find many good institutions that stood for “Media Studies” in India. Apart from Asian College of Journalism, MICA, IIJNM and School of Convergence there din’t seem to be a spark.
Secondly, focus on Digital media and convergence hardly exists. Digital media is the future. 9.9 School of Convergence given its backing from 9.9 Media has managed a world class curriculum. IIJNM has also experimented with new media. However, IIMC, Jamia and others have not changed in years. They don’t prepare students for the next generation of media.
Finally, the focus on practical learning is almost not there. Only SoC has started an industry integrated programme as of now.
1000′s of students give entrance for Jamia and IIMC not realising that the education does not prepare them for the next generation of media.
I’ve always had an avid interest in the online social media sector. There’s nothing I’d rather do than spend time tweeting or facebooking and I’ve always thought that something in the sphere of digital communication would be the perfect job for me but unfortunately I couldn’t find any impressive institutes that would provide me with formal education regarding the same until I came across 9.9 School of convergence, a top journalism and mass communication institute. It has to offer everything that I’ve been looking for in the form of its one year Post Graduation Diploma Course in Digital Media Communication. The focus under this Digital media communication course at School of convergence, a Top journalism college, is on all aspects of digital media space as well as on dependent fields like marketing, advertising and public relations. Along with such an interesting mix of subjects what makes the course even more attractive is the animated faculty which brings to the table a wide range of experience in different fields of digital communication. Another thing that makes 9.9 School of Convergence a top journalism institute is their practical approach towards the subject. The education provided under the Digital Media Communication Course is a mix of theoretical knowledge with practical application as it involves taking part in workshops, constructing media plans etc.I guess I have found exactly what I was looking for.
The digital media front has really revolutionized itself in the past decade and today the competition is fierce in this front. Being a commerce graduate making a career in this field wasn’t easy for me despite my immense aptitude for it. Hence, I was looking for a course that would not only help me strengthen my fundamentals of the way the digital media front works but also help me to build up a successful career ahead and that was when I came across School of Convergence’s PGD course in Digital Media Communication. It was different from all other Journalism and Digital Media Communication Courses that are currently being offered in the country. This Digital Media Communication Course at School of Convergence, a top Journalism Institute, offered just the right mix of classroom studies with on the job training. Its emphasis on practical knowledge and a twelve week long internship thrown in definitely makes this Digital Media Communication course my first choice.
Writing has always been my passion…. But putting ideas on paper in a structured manner or to prepare an engaging content is harder than it sounds….when I went through the curriculum of the course in creative writing at SOC, it had exactly what I was looking for… also it was taught by experts in the media industry.
) I was looking to specialize in communication in the digital social media front and that is when came across School of convergence PGD course in Digital Media Communication. What interested me really in the Digital Media Communication Course apart from the interesting mix of subjects and an experienced faculty was the facilities and infrastructure of the college. To add to that the School of Convergence, a top journalism school, has an eclectic mix of students and faculty. What particularly interested me on their website was their book of quotes http://schoolofconvergence.com/Book%20of%20Quotes.swf
