Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication (SACAC) based in New Delhi, India was formerly known as Sri Aurobindo Institute of Mass Communication (SAIMC). It is a unit of the Aurobindo society and is a well-known media and communications learning centre.
Courses offered
SACAC offers PG Diploma and short-term courses in Mass Communication and Journalism. These courses are not accredited to any university but are well recognized in the industry.
SACAC offers courses under three broad heads:
School of Arts
- 15-month PG Diploma course in Film and TV production specializing in the following streams:
- Directing and Scriptwriting
- Video camera courses
- Film editing and sound design
- 1-year PG Diploma course in Audio Recording – requires graduation / equivalent experience as its minimum qualification
- 1-year PG Diploma in Creative Photography is a unique course in professional photography
School of Communication
- Journalism in English – this is a 1-year PG Diploma course with a professional media internship. SACAC has collaborated with the 9.9 School of Convergence to offer this course in Applied Journalism and Media Communication.
- 1-year PG Diploma in Journalism in Hindi.
- 1-year PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations
Short-term Courses
SACAC also offers a host of short-term courses. The duration of these courses range from two to three months. Open to those interested, the courses include:
- Creative writing
- Script writing
- Video editing
- Still photography
- Puppetry – open for kids over age 6
- Sketching and painting
- Film appreciation
Admission Information
The prospectus along with the application form can be obtained by paying Rs 850 by way of DD in favor of Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication, New Delhi. The prospectus gives details of specific admission requirements of each course such as essays, critiques, portfolios required and more.

Fees can be paid in installments during the course at a set schedule.
Facilities
SACAC does not provide hostel facility but acts as a facilitator in assisting students to find accommodation in nearby areas. The institute also does not guarantee placement but arranges for internships and access to interviews with various media houses as part of the course. A look at the alumni list published on the website indicates that students from the SACAC have been placed with DD news, ANI news agency, Star Com World Wide, Dainik Bhaskar and HSBC to name a few.
