The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), regarded as a centre of excellence in India, Asia and Europe grooms students for a professional career in film making and television program production. Its alumni have made their mark in all the arenas of the Indian Film and Television industry. The feature film and screenplay writing course offered here is a much sought after one.
The Course:
Post graduate Certificate Course in Feature Film and Screenplay writing.
Duration: One year
Number of seats available: 12
Who can apply?
- The course is open to Indian and foreign nationals.
- Students with Bachelors Degrees can apply. Students may log on to www.ftii.com for details relating to qualifications required.
- Two seats are reserved for NRI/foreign students.
- One seat is reserved for foreign students on Indian Government sponsored scholarships such as those sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Tuition fee per year: Rs.75,000/- (Rupees seventy five thousand only)

How to apply:
- Online application: Students can log on to www.ftii.com to download the application form, select the course and centre that they wish to apply for and procure a Demand Draft (Rs. 1610 for General / OBC [Non Creamy Layer] Candidate and Rs. 1260 for SC/ST Candidate) drawn on any branch of the Indian Bank or any other Nationalised Bank , in favour of “Accounts Officer” FTII, Pune. Once the online application for has been filled two passport size photographs and a declaration by parent/guardian must be sent to FTII, Pune. Two weeks after receipt of the Demand Draft, the status of application changes and applicants can print the admit card for the entrance examination.
- Students may apply in person/post.
- An entrance examination is conducted for admission to the course.

- Diploma and Certificate courses in Film and Television: Direction, cinematography, audiography, editing, acting, art direction, animation and computer graphics and feature film screenplay writing.
- Certificate courses in Television: Direction, electronic cinematography, video editing, audiography and TV engineering.
- Short term courses for staff of Doordarshan:
- Make Up courses (2 weeks)
- Television research and Method (4 weeks)
- Film appreciation course for the general public (8 weeks)
Medium of Instruction: For all academic courses is English.
Are there any linkages with universities overseas or the industry?
The FTII is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and is a member of CILECT an international association of film schools.
The institute has experienced faculty, a well stocked library, up to date equipments are the hallmark of its two film studios, one television studio, departments like film and editing, sound, and graphics. Regular interactions with alumni and experts from the industry provide the students with an insight in to latest trends and developments.
