“There is no friend as loyal as a book.”- Ernest Hemingway
Books are nice. Books are actually like our friends. They give us knowledge and information on various subjects and also are a source of entertainment. When we are alone, they are with us like true friends. So a person who reads is never alone. I love to read books.
My favourite book is ‘Incredible Earth’. The book is authored by Anita Ganeri, John Malam, Clare Oliver, Adam Gilbert and Danny Robson. It was published by Parragon in the year 2007. I like this book particularly, because it gives a great deal of information about our planet, our ‘Mother Earth’.
The book contains five sections or chapters – Section one describes us about old earth and how life formed, about the prehistoric life on earth. The earth is now 4.6 billion years old! It is great to imagine how it must have been formed. The second chapter describes life. It is about the dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles, plants existing at that time and about dinosaur skeletons.
Section three is about exploring the earth. It describes various caves, mountains and deserts and islands too. You feel as if you are actually visiting these places. The fourth section describes the disasters that strike the earth. For example tornadoes, volcanoes, earthquakes, different storms etc. The fifth section describes the earth’s climate, problems caused by burning fossil fuels, forests and our environment.
The book has exciting and comic pictures. This makes it interesting for the kids. At the same time it is also very informative about the earth and the environment, natural disasters and early life. The print of the book is also very nice and glossy. The language is very simple for us kids to understand. And above all, the book is my Christmas gift, so I liked it very much.
Thus the book suits the quote by R. D. Cumming – “A good book has no ending.” This book actually doesn’t have it!
