Are eBooks Environment Friendly?

When everyone is talking about carbon foot prints and carbon credits, countries like India can really push eBooks as part of the environment conservation agenda. I wonder if anyone at the Environment Ministry is even thinking about this.

The first lesson in environment conservation is about preserving our trees.

How about starting with eBooks?

Encouraging eBooks seems to be a practical and quick way of reducing environmental damage or is it a misplaced idea without any scientific proof? There may be an energy angle to the production process but I would like to believe that eBook production may not be energy intensive.

In any case, eBooks are a sure way to preserve the trees all right.
Maybe individuals could start a movement to go green with eBooks.
