Self publishing is a popular idea with authors abroad.
India is also seeing emergence of companies promoting self publishing. Some of the players are Depot (Pantaloon Group), Cinnamon Teal and Pothi.
But, does self publishing really help an author?
I believe it is a good option for you if you wish to see your work in print, professionally done and all. It is good for publishing personal experiences and off beat subjects. However, if you are a budding author, self publishing may not translate into recognition for you or even substantial monetary returns.
The biggest concern is content quality of self published works. Self publishers facilitate editing, proof reading, design and limited number of printed copies. In majority of the cases, self publishers are not too concerned about the content.
If you are keen to establish yourself as an author and a successful one at that, it is best to choose a publishers who offer the whole range of services to review, improve, publish and market your work. But then can all authors afford launches by top publishers?
At Chillibreeze, we are bridging the gap between self and traditional publishing by providing authors the whole range of services at affordable prices.
