This is the continuation of the first blog where I was doing some loud thinking of whether reading books online will become popular in India. My take on this is that seeking online sources of information has already become second nature to us, has it not? Therefore reading an eBook could soon look like a normal thing to do.
I would like to share with you something I read ‘online’ that confirms that online material is gaining popularity! The editors’ blog posting dated 23rd April 2009 on the BBC website talked about how the number of viewers of online news is on the rise. “The BBC’s budget programme was watched on BBC2 by an audience that peaked at 1.3m and was also simulcast on the BBC News Channel. What stood out to us, though, was that the programme was also watched 500,000 times via the BBC News Website” http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/2009/04/the_budget_live_tv_audiences_g.html
So, online content is replacing TV viewing! The primary communication channel of the future will be the Internet. An extension of this argument is that people will read eBooks online too – whether it be over their computer screen or on their eBook readers.
My guess is that an eBook reader would make it easy to stock up on books, rather than adding books to your library, is it not? A day may come when even those buying a hard copy of a book will download a copy of the same book on to their favorite eBook reader too! Do you think this is a possibility?
I am now itching to get my hands on an eBook reader that works in India!
Until next time, Au Revoir!

With the availability of pocket friendly ebook readers like Kindle, Kobo eReader and BeBook Neo, one need not stay hooked to the desktops to read an ebook. Yup, it’s hard to run away from the changing technologies.
