While issues like Kandhmal, “Hindu extremism”, “Christians under siege” and “Victimization of the Indian Muslim” dominate editorial space in the “secular” English press in India, little thought is being given to the objectivity and neutrality of these Editorials, let alone that of the reporting.
The “secular” English press, in its unholy enthusiasm to wear its liberal and left-of-centre views on its sleeve is indulging in uninhibited bashing of the Sangh Parivar or anything or anyone remotely pro-Hindu.
Consider the following facts in this context –
- Did the English Press unequivocally condemn the brutal killing of the 84-year old frail monk and social worker, Swami Laxmanand in Orissa, who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the down-trodden?? Certainly not! But look at the extraordinary zeal with which the English press has reported on the killings of Christians in retaliation. This is not to defend these brutal killings. The guilty may well be hanged to death and no right-thinking Hindu will shed a tear for them. But the contrast in reporting and opining is striking, if not sickening.
- The English press and the Pseudo-secular political brigade competing to woo the Muslim electorate had displayed similar bias during Godhra-Gujarat 2002. To them, the Godhra carnage was the handiwork of a few miscreants and acceptable (incredibly, later even this was attributed to the Sangh Pariwar – what perversion!), but the Gujarat riots against Muslims that followed was not a reaction to this provocation, but was pre-planned and state-sponsored, on the lines of Hitler’s final solution. Not a single non-BJP party till date has condemned the Godhra Carnage in unequivocal terms, without sufficing it with Gujaratriots. For them, a Hindu life comes cheap!
- The desecration of idols in a HinduTemplerecently in Goa and the attack on a Church in Gadchiroli by Maoists was reported by the “secular” English press in inner pages, but the same press is giving disproportionate coverage to the so-called attacks on Christians in Karnataka.
- The undeniable fact that a majority of the Maoist cadre in Orissa belongs to the Christian community and that there is a clear nexus between these anti-national extremists and the Christian missionaries is deliberately being downplayed by the” Secular” English press, which otherwise prides itself on its “well-researched” reporting on Sangh Pariwar activities.
- The “secular” English press which has been shedding tears for the Christian victims of Sangh Pariwar in Mangalore has failed to delve into the provocation for this reaction by some members of the majority community. Even if this is to be attributed to their ignorance and poor reporting, it would do the “secular” English press and its political masters a whole lot of good to carefully study “ Satya Darshani “, a book being peddled by these crooked missionaries of NEW LIFE, especially the abuses heaped on Hindu Gods and Goddesses in pages 39,48 and 50.
If something similar was directed against Islam in Mangalore, not a single Christian would have been alive by now in Mangalore!
It is pertinent to note here that ,of the 16 such attacks in Karnataka reported in the press, not a single one was on any Church. Only unauthorized “prayer halls “, where such blasphemous literature was being distributed were attacked, even though these acts are not justifiable in a democratic country. The only place where an attack took place apart from New Life Prayer Halls was at MilagresChurch, where a Jesus idol was desecrated. Incidentally, the VHP and Bajrang Dal condemned this incident. They also clarified that they were not against the Catholic faith and the mainstream churches, but warned that public outcry would continue till blatant Blasphemy against Hindu Gods continued. Needless to say, this was inadequately reported in the English Press.
If such perverse secularism continues, it will not be long before even liberal and progressive Hindus start thinking on the lines of the Sangh Pariwar and develop a persecution complex like the Indian Muslims, Christians and Dalits. And when the majority community in any country is pushed to the brink and emasculated, it can only spell disaster for that country.
