“Athidi Dhevo Bhava” that’s the first thing we remember when we have guests , we welcome all those who come to our place and our country, we invite them with open hands, we respect our guests, and treat them well with lots of care, as we do so our own family members. That’s what makes India so great and special. We are taught to respect our guest’s right from our young age through epics and puranas. That is the specialty of us Indians; we are all different in religions, cultures and traditions but we are same when it comes to treating our guests. That’s why they say “East or West India Is The Best” and that is the reason why tourists flock to India in groups almost the whole of the year.
India is rich in cultures and traditions with lots of age old monuments like Taj mahal, Red fort, Fatehpur sikhri, Qutab Minar, Ajantha and Ellora caves, temples like Brigadeesvara temple built by Chola, who was the great emperor of the south, Mahabodhi temple, the sculptures at Khajuraho temple are all so awesome that no one will miss it for anything in the world. Not only this, India is famous for its Mountain railway system which provides the tourists a chance to look at the sceneries and the beauty of the hill stations at a leisurely pace. Those who will be interested in the wildlife, the wildlife sanctuaries, the national parks are there in places like Sundarbans in West Bengal, Kaziranga in Assam and so on. There are also lots of exhibition by the arts and crafts department displaying many natural and handmade crafts.
Each state in India has its own story and places to attract, for example, Tamilnadu has hill stations like ooty, kodaikanal, temple towns like Madurai, Trichy, beautiful beaches in Kanyakumari, Marina beach in Chennai, Pondicherry and many more. If we take the example of Karnataka, there is the Mysore palace, chamundeshwari temple, the bull temple in Bangalore, brindavan gardens etc, likewise if we take the example of Orissa, and we have the sun temple in konark. In Rajasthan we have the Jaipur with many hawaa mahals, palaces, and many desserts. In Punjab we have the golden temple in Amritsar. So like this the list goes on and on. It only depends on the interests of the tourists whether they want to have a spiritual tour of India or visit old monuments or want to discover things about the wildlife, because the choices are so wide, it’s difficult for the tourists to cover everything in a few days. Without a perfect planning one cannot expect to cover the whole of India.
Not only India is famous for its tourist’s spots, but it is also famous for its tasty and spicy foods, which attracts lots of tourists to different places of India. There is south Indian dishes like dosa’s, idlis, vadas, pooris and full meals which includes sambar, rasam, curries, pickles, curd and many more. The north Indian dishes include rotis, parathas, sabji’s, different varieties of dhall, shahi pulao, murgh dum biryani, tandoori chicken, shahi paneer, gobi manchirian and many more. The list of such delicious and mouth watering foods available in India is endless, just writing about them makes us tempted to try everything out immediately. All these foods are made with great care with lots of spices and condiments which not only increases the flavor of the food but also has many nutritive values.
If you are wondering as to why I haven’t talked about the sweets and savories part of the food, then let me tell you that is because there are so many items to be spoken about that I wanted to write about them one by one, these may be gulab jamuns, rasa gullas , jalebis, dhoodh peda(milk sweet), ghajar ka halwa(carrot), phirni(rice pudding), ras malai, rabri, badam halwa(almond), kesari, adhirasam, shrikand, kaju katli, modak, basundi and lots more. These are just the samples of the number of sweets available in different regions of India. Each and every sweet is the specialty of one region or the other in India.
All these and many more attract tourists to India. We Indians expect tourists to see and enjoy the great aspects of our country, and know the good values of our culture, our traditions, and many more interesting things available exclusively in India. I am sure what I have written is very little about our mother country, but this can be taken as a brief article for the whole of India and its tourism. I am a very proud to have been born as an Indian citizen. Jai hind!
