Associated content provides writers with an open platform to publish content on any topic, in any format (text, video, audio and images) and also helps connect that content to consumers, partners and advertisers. It is a good place for beginners to get started.
Submission of Articles
Associated Content or AC as it’s popularly known accepts both original and previously published content. You can choose to write on any topic or respond to the call for content section where you write according to specifications.
When submitting original content the website offers the writer the option of selecting the level of rights he wishes to grant his article. The rights are offered at 3 levels- Exclusive, Non-Exclusive and Display Only. Each level determines the payment you receive and your control over the article.
Articles that have been previously published are eligible for the Display Only category.
The website offers distribution rights whereby the content is distributed to the partners of Associated Content. Writers are compensated additionally for every piece of content that is distributed. This also enables writers to reach out to a larger audience.
Payment:
Writers who reside outside the United States are not eligible for upfront payment for their articles. They are eligible for performance review payments only. The payment is $1.50 for 1000 page views. The best way to make more money is generate more content on AC.
Commenting on Articles and Networking with Writers
The site allows users to comment on articles. You can also connect with the authors or content producers by clicking on the by line of any piece to send a message interact and post queries.
Forums
The forums here are for general discussion and website news. The Guides and tutorials forum offers writer workshops, tips and advice for making money and help with promoting content on the website.
This was overall a really good website for beginners. Established Indian writers may find the non availability of upfront payment a negative factor. The website attracts a large number of writers and the more a writer contributes the greater the chances of earning, as your earlier submitted articles continue to generate income through page views.
