Should the Chillibreeze Writers’ Meets be a forum for assigning client-outsourced projects to CB writers? Should these projects be handed out at the Meets themselves?
At CB, we have a different method of assigning client projects; these are usually decided upon by our Project Management Team at Bangalore. After the selection process, the team intimates the selected candidates by mail. Most would agree that this method has worked very well over the years, But there is some dissent, too, and some CB writers have suggested that they would prefer to have the projects assigned at the Meets itself.
You have to ask yourself some questions: if co ordinators, who have a different focus, are asked to involve themselves in project management, wouldn’t the dedicated attention now being given by the Project Mangement Team to selecting the right candidate for a certain project, go for a toss? And if the co ordinator is asked merely to hand out the projects after the Project Management Team has completed the selection process, aren’t we merely adding another stage to the whole process–which makes little sense and merely leads to delay? Like everything else, there are the upsides as well as a few downsides to both these methods. We can decide on which method to follow only after we get your responses on both sides. So, do write in saying what your problem with the existing method is, if any, and why you would prefer the Meets for handing out assignments
