One of the hot topics discussed at the recent Chillibreeze writer meet in Bangalore was the challenges faced by freelance writers in finding work. It can be frustrating to find a source of steady income as a freelancer. But when you think about it most careers have their own set of challenges and so, why should a writer’s life be any easier?
One of the things that worked well for me was meeting face to face with editors of magazines. This I did by tapping contacts of friends and associates or even just calling up a newspaper and then going across to meet them after I’d sent them a suitable pitch. Not everyone will have time to meet you but at least a few things are sure to click into place. It’s good to touch base directly with people instead of just sending an email and waiting for a response. How do you go about scouting for freelance projects and jobs? Please post a comment below this article and share the challenges you’ve faced while scouting for freelance work.
